MADRID CONTACT FESTIVAL
Since 2007 The Madrid Contact Improvisation Festival takes place, creating a frame to practice Contact Improvisation, where the urge for movement also feeds the solo dance, and where CI technique is balanced by the deeper question of how we are in relationship with our dance partners and the surrounding as a whole. It is inspired by the idea of 'CI as an art sport'. This was an attempt from Simon Forti to describe Contact Improvisation in the very early days. It includes the physicality in the sport, and the creativity in the art. Every edition three highly experienced teachers knit their different knowledge and methods into a beneficial journey for the group as a whole. Classes, jams, performative frames and scores provide different settings to learn, to meet, dance and explore.
